Plasma Awareness

Plasma For Life

Plasma-derived therapies are crucial for treating over 50 serious medical conditions. Every month, more than 13,300 Australians depend on immunoglobulin to manage chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Plasma donations are vital to sustaining this life-saving supply—with a single donation potentially helping multiple people living with rare or complex conditions.

Plasma is the straw-coloured, liquid component of blood that contains essential proteins, including antibodies that fight infection and clotting factors that help control bleeding. When someone has low levels of these proteins, their body can’t perform critical functions, putting them at risk of severe, chronic, or life-threatening health issues.

In 2025, IDFA will launch a national Plasma Awareness Campaign – Plasma For Life, running from May to December. This campaign will follow a three-stage approach focused on deepening community understanding, building meaningful connections, and highlighting the essential role of plasma donation and plasma-derived therapies.

Pain Be Gone

For Veronica, creating a Lifeblood Team was a natural step toward giving back and honouring the people who make her health—and her life—a little easier. She recognises that same generosity in the millions of people worldwide who rely on blood products. By starting a team, Veronica hoped to contribute in her own way, fostering a sense of community and team spirit.
