Cheryl’s story

After spending a lifetime of getting whatever was going around, finally at the ripe old age of 49 I was finally diagnosed with CVID.

I had been hosting overseas students for the past few years and they were always arriving at my place with illnesses they had bought with them. But 4 years ago, in the year of swine flu, one student arrived with a particularly bad strain and of course I copped it bad, everyone else got better but me, so after having repeated pneumonias for the past few years my respiratory doctor did a simple blood test which finally gave me a diagnosis.

And several weeks later I began IVIG infusions and have been well since, even to the point of being able to travel Australia for 4 months during which time I had my infusions in several country hospitals.
